Cheating

We live in a highly developed world. There is great progress in sciences and technology. In such a high developed society, we can still find people who yearn for money, fame, or power. Their yearning is so strong that they don’t mind cheating. I am afraid that it is not difficult to meet a cheater today.

We can already find cheating in school. I think that most students cheat a little at least once during their studies. I assume that almost every one of us, while having sat helplessly with a test paper, has moved ‘aimlessly’ to see what our friends thought about Newton’s laws of motion. We did it out of sheer curiosity of course. Another favorite way of cheating in school is the so-called cheat sheet. I suppose that cheat sheets are as old as the education system itself. If I am to be honest, I have written a cheat sheet once myself, but then I didn’t have the courage to use it. On the other hand, due to writing the cheat sheet, I remembered most of the subject matter. So despite not using the cheat sheet, I got a good grade. In my opinion, you won’t enjoy the feeling of satisfaction from well done work if you will cheat to attain the results. I think that the feeling of good work is a better reward than a good grade.

As for cheating, I think that the situation has not been good in recent years. We are informed by the media about the corruption of politicians, the judicial system etc. I think that in the Czech Republic, corruption is a big problem and it has a bad influence on the reputation of our country. However, I firmly believe that most Czech people are honest and stick to rules. Our national motto is still: “Truth prevails!”

As I see it, cheating is not worth doing. I don’t think that an indiscretion brings us happiness. I believe in something what Hinduism calls ‘karma’. If you will do bad things, everything bad will return to you sooner or later. As for cheating, I am sure it is particularly true.
