Clothes (slovíčka)

bathrobe - župan (Am.)
a long loose piece of clothing that you wear before or after a bath

beads - korále, korálky
small balls on a string

bikini - bikini
a piece of clothing that women wear whenthey go swimming or sunbathing, it comes in two pieces

bow tie - motýlek (k obleku)
a kind of tie that men wear at very formal occassions, it looks a little like a butterfly

shorts used as men's underwear

bra - podprsenka
a piece of women's underwear covering the breasts

bracelet - náramek
something worn around your wrist or arm as an ornament, usually made of silver, gold or other metal, leather, beads, etc.

briefs - slipy, kalhotky
men's or women's underwear that covers the parts between the waist and the top of the legs

cap - čepice (s kšiltem)
A light hat that usually has a longer part in the front to shield your eyes against the sun.

buckle - přeska, spona
a kind of fastener that can join two ends of straps together (e.g. on a backpack etc.)

coat - kabát
A piece of clothing that you wear over your other clothes, usually in winter or cold weather. It is usually long and warm.

collar - límec
the part of a piece of clothes that stands around the neck

dress - šaty
A piece of women's clothing. It is usually long and covers the body from the shoulders to the knees or below.

earring - náušnice
a piece of jewelry that is worn on the ear

flip-flops - žabky (boty)
open shoes that have a thin strap between your big toe and the toe next to it

gloves - rukavice
Pieces of clothing that cover the hands and each finger separately. People usually wear them in winter to keep their hands warm.

hat - klobouk, čepice
A piece of clothing that covers your head.

high heel - vysoký podpatek
a long part of a woman's shoe that supports the back of the foot

hose - punčochy (Am.)
a piece of women's clothing, it is thin and tight and covers the waist, legs and feet (Am.)

jacket - sako, bunda
A short coat, usually lighter and not as warm.

jeans - džíny
Trousers made of a special cloth. They are usually blue. They come from Texas.

jumper - halenka, svetr

jewelry - klenoty, šperky
ornaments with jewels, things like bracelets, necklaces, rings, earrings etc.

locket - medailon, přívěšek
a piece of jewellery worn on a chain, it can be opened and a picture can be put inside

mittens - rukavice (palčáky), palčáky
gloves that cover the four fingers of the hand in one part and the thumb in the other

necklace - náhrdelník, řetízek
A kind of jewellery that is worn around the neck

nightgown - noční košile
a long loose piece of clothing that is women sometimes wear in bed

panties - kalhotky
women's underwear that covers the parts between the waist and the top of the legs

pocket - kapsa
A small flat bag inside your clothes where you can put your wallet etc, or your hands when it is cold.

purse - peněženka (dámská), kabelka, měšec
a small bag for carrying money

pyjamas - pyžamo
a loose shirt and trousers that sometimes people wear when they are in bed

ring - prsten, prstýnek
a small metal thing which you wear on your finger as a decoration. It is usually made of silver or gold.

sandals - sandály
light open shoes that have bands to hold the feet in them

scarf - šála
A long piece of cloth that you use in cold weather to cover your neck.

shirt - košile
A piece of clothing with long sleeves and buttons at the front.

shoes - boty
The things that you wear on your feet. They are usually made of plastic or leather.

shoelaces - tkaničky do bot
longs strings that are used to fasten shoes

shorts - kraťasy, šortky, trenky
A kind of short tyrousers that cover your legs to the knees or shorter.

skirt - sukně
A piece of women's clothing that covers their legs to the knees or longer.

sleeve - rukáv
one of the parts of a shirt or a coat etc. that cover the arms

slippers - bačkory, papuče, pantofle
light soft shoes worn at home

socks - ponožky
Pieces of clothing that you wear on your feet inside your shoes.

stockings - punčochy
a pair of coverings for the feet and legs, usually worn by women

strap - popruh, pásek, řemínek, ramínko (podprsenky)
a narrow band of a material that holds something together

suit - oblek
formal clothes worn by men, consisting of trousers, shirt, tie and a jacket

sweater - svetr
A piece of clothing with long sleeves. It is usually warm and made of wool. People wear it on their T-shirt or shirt, under the coat.

sweatshirt - mikina
A piece of clothing with long sleeves similar to a sweater, usually made of cotton and not as warm.

swimming trunks - plavky (pánské)
a piece of clothing that men wear when they go swimming

swimsuit - plavky (dámské)
a piece of clothing that women wear when they go swimming or sunbathing

trainers - tenisky, sportovní boty

tracksuit - tepláky, tepláková souprava
Warm trousers usually used for sports, usually with a matching jacket.

a thing with two rows of metal or plastic teeth that fit together
