Czech Christmas
Czech Christmas starts four weeks before Christmas Eve. It´s called Advent. We clean our house, bake many kinds of home-made sweets and decorate our house with candles, angels, Christmas tree with chains, balls, chocolates and stars and advent wreath with four candles. One candle stands for one week. On 5th December is special day for Czech Republic – St. Nicolas´s day. St. Nicolas, angel and devil go to every house and gift children some small presents. On 24th December we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. We fast until de dinner come to see the golden pig. We have a special dinner – Fish soup, fried carp with potato salad. After de dinner Little Jesus rings bell and children rush to the living room to open the presents under the Christmas tree. After the opining we sing Christmas carols and cut apples to see our future.25th and 26th December relax and visit our relatives.
