In most East European countries is celebrated Saint Nicholas Day.On the night children wear angel and devil costumes go from house to house and singing carold and they are given presents.
The German Christmas, tree has become a universal motif of European Christmas traditions. Germany dinner consist of fish, warm dishes, cold meats, cheese and biscuits.
In the USA it is very different. A Christmas tree is topped by a star representing the Star of Bethlehem. Many families decorate their homes and yards. Traditional dinner includes turkey with vegetables and sauces, goose, duck or ham served with cranberry sauce and rich fruity Christmas pudding.
In Australia it is different because in December there is summer. Australians decorate their homes with flowers or other plants. Traditional Christmas meals are hams, turkeys and plum pudding which are often served cold.
In Europe is celebrated to welcome the New Year. People blow trumpets, horns, whistles and bonfires and fireworks can be seen all around.
In the USA people sometimes have masquerade balls. In Australia include outdoor activities like picnics, camping or surfing.
